Our Agricultural Upstream

We contribute to the long-term future of agricultural supply-chains

The Groupe Savencia is working working alongside the producers of agricultural supply-chains to secure their future and sustain our supplies:

  • Support generational renewal among producers
  • Build long-term loyalty among raw material producers to our Group and our brands
  • Work with producers to help evolve agricultural models in their regions

Focus on Milk

Ensure a close and trusting relationship with partner producers

Savencia Fromage & Dairy buys and processes cow, goat and ewe milk from over 8 500 producers worlwide. France represents the majority of our milk supplies.

Savencia is the 3rd largest milk collector in France. The milk we process there is 100% of French origin, and all our dairies are located close to the farms.

Aware of their responsibility towards environmental and societal issues, our teams work every day to ensure local and competitive milk supply for the dairies and to support agricultural transition.

In all collection areas, Savencia’s « Ressources Laitières » teams support farmers daily in all matters related to milk quality, generational renewal, and improving the environmental footprint of farms.

Focus on Cocoa & Vanilla

Privileged relationships with producers to build fair and sustainable supply chains

Valrhona develops close and lasting relationships with its 16 979 cocoa producers thanks to a dedicated sourcing team committed to building direct and responsible connections.

By establishing partnerships with a minimum duration of three years—and on average eight years—the brand provides producer organizations with the visibility needed to invest confidently and build their future.

This program is accompanied by social and environmental projects carried out closely with communities, as well as ambitious cocoa policies that include fair pricing, combating child labor, zero deforestation, agroecology, and enhanced traceability.

This partnership approach is also extended to other supply chains, such as vanilla.

Created in 2019, Norohy works towards a more transparent and virtuous supply chain by supporting the sustainability of crops and the adoption of responsible practices.
The brand assists communities in addressing challenges related to diversification, income, labor, and infrastructure to strengthen their resilience

Other raw materials

Egg Products

We pay close attention to the origin and production conditions of the raw materials used in our recipes.

Although egg products represent a minor share of our overall sourcing, the Group uses only eggs from cage-free hens across all its recipes.

Since the end of 2025, 100% of the eggs used by Savencia have come from cage-free hens.

Pork

Bordeau Chesnel develops trustworthy partnerships for a more sustainable industry, working hand-in-hand with farmers in order to support their transition towards more ethical livestock practices by:

  • guaranteeing better compensation, higher than the pork industry average, and far higher for the most ethical farms ;
  • fully controlling livestock feed with 100% French grains containing at least 20% barley ;
  • financial encouragement to implement farming models that are more respectful of animal welfare, such as straw-based farming or ‘free-range maternity ;
  • supporting farmers to reduce their environmental impact, by setting up tools to measure and monitor their environmental footprint ;
  • the implementation of preventive hygiene measures to minimize
    the use of antibiotics.

Chicken

Bordeau Chesnel has set a high priority on local sourcing: chickens are mainly from 100% French farms and located mostly in the “Grand Ouest” region (Pays de Loire, Normandy, and Brittany). About chicken welfare, we are committed that by the end of 2025, our supplies come from cage-free hens. Several initiatives have already been implemented to further chicken welfare, as redesigning chicken coops to include perches and pecking stones, and an access to natural light.
Furthermore, our chicken’s feed is made from grains that are 100% of French origin. By the end of 2026, and in accordance with the Better Chicken Commitment, our chickens will benefit from 30% more space.

Fish

In 2023, 100% of Coraya’s line of fish are exclusively from sustainably-caught fish, controlled by an independent organization that guarantees that all fisheries engage in fishing practices that respect the ocean, the environment, global fish resources and species-specific stocks.
