For over 10 years, the SAVENCIA Group has formalized its commitment to the inclusion of people with disabilities with the “Action Handicap” initiative.
The aim? To rely on a network of 40 referents in subsidiaries to raise awareness and combat stereotypes, recruit and maintain disabled people in employment, and develop partnerships with the sheltered sector.
As representatives of SAVENCIA's disability policy, the role of the 40 coordinators within the Group’s subsidiaries includes supporting employees with disabilities and their managers. Their aim is to simplify processes, identify and implement solutions such as workplace accommodations, and assist with applications for disability recognition (RQTH - "Reconnaissance de la Qualité de Travailleur Handicapé").
The coordinators also roll out communication and awareness campaigns within their subsidiaries, as well as initiatives driven by the Group. These include conferences on topics such as visual, mental, and psychological disabilities, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), digital accessibility, diabetes, learning disorders (DYS), and the role of caregivers. Additionally, they implement local actions, such as the monthly recommendations by the BG subsidiary in Tholy (88) for films, series, books, and comics on the theme of disability. These efforts aim to challenge perceptions, break stereotypes, and foster a shift in attitudes toward disabilities.
A key highlight of this commitment: the European Disability Employment Week (EDEW), an initiative focused on promoting the employment of people with disabilities
This event, organized across all of the Group's French subsidiaries, provides SAVENCIA with an opportunity to strengthen employee engagement through activities such as conferences, digital games, informational meetings, and awareness workshops. During this week, subsidiaries can also participate in the DUO DAY initiative, where individuals with disabilities are paired with employees to explore different roles and activities within the Group's industrial or administrative sectors. In 2023, 45 people with disabilities were welcomed to participate in this initiative, fostering inclusivity and understanding in the workplace.
An enriching experience for both employees and our one-day interns:
"I believe Duo Day is valuable not only for the participants but also for employees. It raises awareness about the realities of living with a disability and retaining employment." — Virginie, HR Manager
"I’m thrilled with this Duo Day experience, which confirmed my interest in pursuing a career in HR. I’d like to do an internship to better understand how an HR department operates." — Aurélie, Duo Day participant
Once again this year, during SEEPH, a rich and diverse program is offered to employees across subsidiaries. This is an opportunity for everyone to move forward together toward greater inclusion within SAVENCIA.
